I did recently discover the hummingbird app and maps (thanks coworker). Way better than navionics it seems.
February 5, 2020 at 6:48 pm #714490Canuck I had the new map from hummingbird and wasn’t impressed. Maybe you fishing different area but south shore area doesn’t show much but the depth…?
February 6, 2020 at 3:24 am #714505Sundie, I tried to send you a pm, hope this helps.

IF I could give any advice for what every it may help, pick up the map sold by Hummingbird as it has amazing contours which should help.I was fishing areas that had been good and now I see why and ALSO a lot more areas I will be targeting.
It is CHEAP $29.99 US. I have it on my Helix 7 AND cellular. Very detailed.
NO I do NOT work for Hummingbird.
I agree with CANUCK. This map is spot on and it is absolutely worth the money.
Heading but next weekend. Can’t wait to get back up there. Was up twice already this year in January and numbers are great, no big fish yet but catching 30+ a day is worth the 4 hour drive north!
February 17, 2020 at 3:18 pm #714506I am not to tech savvy how do I get this Lake Winnepeg app or chip?
February 19, 2020 at 1:41 am #714507February 29, 2020 at 2:13 am #714509Fished the lake this morning using info from the chip. 14 nice eaters 19 to 20″ and 1 28 1/2. Did I say I was only out for 2 1/2 hrs. Where was this chip before????
Personally I think it is more important than my flasher. It put me right on the spot I had sourced out.February 29, 2020 at 3:37 pm #714510I’ll be there in 1 week! Can’t wait!
March 13, 2020 at 9:01 pm #714511What an awesome fishery, the walleye are so big and thick it’s amazing.
We gave that lake hell for two days. Monday was the best day of walleye fishing I’ve ever had. Never thrown back so many 15-17″ eater fish before. I also got the 3 biggest walleye I’ve ever pulled through the ice and I did it in 1 day! (26, 27.5 and 27.5). On Monday our group also landed: 26, 27.5 and a 30 along with quite a few other in the 20-24 range and countless eaters.
Tuesday fishing was more difficult but we still got on plenty of eaters, the biggest that day was 24″. Still can’t complain as we got plenty of fish that day too just not the big girls. We had chances, just had more trouble landing them on Tuesday than we did Monday. we’ll call monday beginners luck.
We hired a guide through Blackwater Cats and we definitely caught more fish because of it. One of my 27.5’s came out of the very first hole he drilled. Our guide Brett was awesome and worked his butt off drilling holes and keeping us on fish. Hats off to him, I can’t imagine how sore I’d be if I had to do his job those 2 days.
Pretty amazing when you are tossing back “shorts” ( 15-18″ fish) and keeping 19-20″ eaters.
Need better sunscreen next time… i’m so sunburnt.
Silver/blue was the best color for us.
March 13, 2020 at 10:25 pm #714512Good report with an excellent narrative! Thanks
March 13, 2020 at 10:57 pm #714513It is an amazing fishery and glad you got on fish. I am glad my recommendations on the guides worked out, Brett, James and Donovan work their butts off.
There are guides and there are so called guides.
