Cannot be there but certainly can contact the committee members my legislator as well.
Help YourselfMay 13, 2016 at 4:00 pm #663463We need your help for a few minutes right now.
Over the last few months, we’ve asked you a few times to contact the legislature and come to hearings to put a stop to an attempt by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to ban lead ammunition in Minnesota.
We were just made aware that Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL 52A) will introduce an amendment this afternoon on the House floor to ban lead shot on any land that received money from the state’s trust fund.
This would completely ban lead shot in state statute for huge portions of Minnesota.
Can you do the following in the next few hours? It will only take a few minutes:
Call your Representative in the Minnesota House: Simply state that you’re opposed to Rep. Hansen’s A16-1195 amendment to the natural resources omnibus bill that is scheduled for today. Ask your Representative to vote no.Follow-up with an email to your Representative: Briefly reiterate your key points and ask them to vote no.
If you haven’t already done so, please consider joining the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus. It’s the support from our members that allows us to continue our work to monitor what’s happening at the Capitol – and work to advance pro-Second Amendment legislation with our allies in the legislature.
If you’ve already joined the Caucus, thanks! Please consider an additional donation to help us continue to advance our efforts in Saint Paul.
I’ll keep you updated as this, and other legislation, advances in Saint Paul.Sincerely,
Rob Doar
Political DirectorMay 13, 2016 at 5:47 pm #663464As expected, the proposed ban this time is much more broad than what was introduced in committee. The specific verbiage of the amendment is below:
e) Use of nontoxic shot is required on lands protected, conserved, preserved, or enhanced with money appropriated from the trust fund.

Amendments like these just show that the anti’s will take every opportunity they can get, to restrict your rights. Within minutes of the amendments filing, we (MN Gun Owners Caucus) had the information in hand, and were able to take that to Speaker Daudt and the Republican caucus.
Within the hour, we were working with NRA-ILA for them to get a notice out to their supporters to call as well. Grassroots advocacy, and pressure works.
May 13, 2016 at 7:26 pm #663466Well done JJ. Thanks to you and everyone else in the MN Gun Owners Caucus.
