Smallies were hitting this morning in the rum bite stopped about 10 or so for us. Pretty small though.
Are there spots to hit North of 169? Pretty navigable?

You can get a ways up but have to be very careful, wouldn’t go blasting up unless you know exactly where you are.

Might want to reference the ref book:
            http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/fishing/fishing_regs.pdf#view=fit&pagemode=bookmarks

            Pg. 50

MISSISSIPPI RIVER (Sherburne, Stearns and Wright counties) smallmouth bass: all from 12-20″ must be immediately released from the confluence of the Crow River upstream to the St. Cloud Dam, including tributaries to the posted boundaries. Possession limit is three, with one over 20″.

JJ. We live in St. Cloud. My son wants to try for walleye on the Mississippi. We do not have a boat. Are there any dam areas or other areas we might try from shore? I’ve fished just south of the dam in St. Cloud, near SCSU, and caught some small mouth, but don’t really know how to catch walleye or where. We are pretty new to this. Thank you for any pointers.
