I am getting ready to re-line my Ice rigs. I tried several different types of lines last year. Really didnt find a favorite. Just wondering what others use.
      panfish rig?
      walleye rig?
      tip ups?

I have the 3lb trilene microice on most of my rods and found out that worked best for me.

I have come to the conclusion that fresh Trilene MicroIce in the various needed sizes every year suits me just fine. But then again I tend to keep things simple.

Micro ice worked very well for me last year

I found Fireline hard to work with and tie knots with but I loved the strength and instant hook set it provides.

Same here. Microice works well, I usually use 3 and 6 lb line, but ive had a several breakoffs with larger fish. I use fireline in openwater and love it. Iim pretty sure that someone makes a braided line for ice. I want to try that out this year.

You have to tie certain knots with braided line.

Power pro has an ice line. I have it on one of my rods. 8lb 1lb diameter. Although I did catch my bigest fish with 2lb microice. 35″ northern up at red lake.

For pannies on bait, I use 2 pound Flor-Ice by P-Line.

4 pound Vanish gets the nod for jigging Raps and Go-Devils, Frostee Jigs, or Jigging Demons.

What little fishing on the ice I do for waldos, I use 6 pound Vanish with bait and I might step up to a 1/8 power pro braid for more aggresive jigging with Raps, Go Devils, or twisters on a jig.

Braid holds water and can make fishing it miserable if the weather is cold and you are open ice. I seldom sit in a shack waiting on waldos….I move around a ton looking and I do not use ice rods when fishing them. What goes in the boat in the summer, goes on the ice in the winter.Same tools, just a bit different line, at times.

I’ve used HT black line on my crappie rods last year and plan to use it on most of my rods this year.
I’ve tried most of the lines out there and I like HT the best.

All I used last year was 3# and 6# fireline for ice fishing. Crappie Tom hit it right on the head. When you are out on open ice i was constantly trying to clear ice from the line, however the feel and strength of fire line makes it worth it to a certain extent. I am going to try and use vanish this year for my open ice rods. Hope that helps cause it will hold the water.

Trilene XL 4 lb for pannies and walleyes, 8 lb. XT for loopers and pike. The Xt takes a good hit on the edge of the hole without breaking off.

I use P-Line Floro-Ice on nearly all my rods last year in 2,4,6lb diameters and was very impressed with it. I also put Micro Ice on a few reels as well and have never really been dissappointed with that either.

The only problem I have run into with Micro-Ice is memory issues every so often.

I used the Flouro Ice last year too, and liked it. The Berkley Micro Ice is good too, but your right it does have memory issues. The line has the ability to coil quite a bit. Micro Ice is made for cold weather though, it will stretch and return to its original state even under the coldest conditions. Berkley Cold Weather, despite its name, is just a standard monofilament dyed blue; it’s benifit is it is more visible against the snow and ice.
