I was going to put a few trout pics in but it isn’t set up like the other species forums. Here’s one anyway from Nipigon. Believe it was around 23 pounds.

You really should plan a trip to Ontario. Can’t beat it.
However, some of our Minnesota lakes can be pretty darn good at times."Fish til it Hurts!"..... Greg ClusiauNovember 15, 2006 at 7:13 am #150904A few trouts from the big lake this year… Fantastic year that is still going.. Hoping for some big tank lakers through the ice as well…

Regarding the hardwater trout, again, please keep us informed as to when we can catch a few of the fish in your area. I’d like to make it over there another time or two. It just didn’t happen last year.
Thanks…….GC

But to really experience a trout or salmon’s fighting ability, you have to give it a shot through the ice with the short sticks… Browns and Salmon really give your reel a workout!!
Greg.. Hopefully this years ice will set up a bit better then last years. Only had a few good weeks of fishing, but they were definately good weeks with a lot of lakers caught in the big lake. The end of December, we are typically poking out into the islands for the lakers and other near shore trout and whitefish. But early ice in Chequamegon Bay itself is pretty good as well for trouts and salmon. Which usually will roll around the first part of December.
I’ll be sure to keep everyone updated or you can the fishing report on my website as well.
November 18, 2006 at 4:57 pm #150923A trip to that area has been on the to-try list for about the last three years. Ice or open water. Probly’ not this winter. I do want to try some trout through the ice though. We have stocked ponds in Coon rapids and Chaska, or a couple of lakes, Christmas, Little Long, Wabado etc. Or up with the “touched” when and if Superior ever skims over, (Tim Baker and friends, It’d be fun to try it with an experienced ice runner), along the N. Shore Up from Duluth. Or I was wondering if any of the Crosby pits are NOT considered designated, but have fishable trout populations. Anyway it would be fun to try them through the ice. Hope I get a shot at it this winter.
