I have a Hook 5 and a FLX-12. It’s actually the Lowrance that gets all the interference. The Vex is fine.  The best way to go though is to use the graph mode with the amplitude scope on. It’s basically is like a showdown with history then. It will still get blips on it then, but you can fish thru it. Still a bit annoying though. I never use the Dial anymore, it isn’t the greatest. If I fish with someone else, I usually use the Vex though. But the Lowrance is nice, no noise compared to a FL-series Vex and the History is nice. The new FLX is nice and quiet too.

I got a decent 8pt about an hour in on opening morning. Season was over quick. Zone 259.

Here’s the other 15 on the list for future consideration. Basically anything within 15 miles. Some of these like White and Millstone barely have an access. I kinda think they just looked at the DNR Lakefinder map and put down all the lakes with an access that was within 15 miles. That Dnr map is nice and the access icons stick out good.

I suppose the more lakes they can get on the list, the more money and reason they will say that this is the way to go. No consideration to the boating public as how it affects them and how far they will have to travel.

That is the main point I got out of the meetings. The people pushing for this think they are the Elites and we are just the lessers. They know what is right and everyone else just shut up and take it. Been to two of the meetings.

Other forms of Social Media such as FaceFart have taken over. Plus if it weren’t for but a few nice gents keeping this site going, it would be gone. Not all of attention has been given to it otherwise.

Drove by Beebe last night. It was mostly frozen but there were two big open areas out in front of the landing, just west of the big island.

Looks like Swans/Geese and the wind were keeping it open. Use caution there as when it all freezes up, it will be a lot thinner there than right in front of the landing where everyone tests the ice.

Other smaller lakes in the area have fishable ice, 4-5.

I noticed that this year too.

They seemed to go real heavy on the weed spray this year and right after the opener according to the date on the signs. Looked like every dock in the east bay had a sign by it, which usually means they had their dock sprayed. Also by the east side buoys and out in front of landing, I’m sure in the name of boat lanes!!. This usually kills the Bass and Pike fishing for me out there and was no different this year. Hopefully some weeds comes back later this summer.

Don’t give up all hope. I caught some decent gills out there this winter. I never keep them, wife won’t eat ones with the Black dots and these are pretty loaded with them sometimes. Just fun to catch.

The Crappies do run in that 8-9in range only. It’s the new Pelican as far as shore spots go. I thought Ice fishing pressure wasnt all that heavy compared to a year or two ago.

                      Keep at it!

Beebe opened up yesterday. Had the boat out for awhile as did a few others. Most everything in the area should be open I would guess.

                        Commence fishing,

2 Boats on Beebe last night, one breaking through a good sized ice flow. The bay with the houses and the south 1/3 of the lake still had a layer of ice. Schmidt looked to be completely ice free.

I agree with the above, drove by as the second boat was coming to the lake. Should give the rest of the ice up today or tomorrow for sure. Yeah, Schmidt looked to be open as far as I could see. Latest Ice out for Beebe I’ve ever seen.

This morning, Rice in Maple Grove was pretty much ice free other than a few final sheets pushed up against the north shore. Fish still had ice, but sides and the middle by the narrow spot were open. Ice was very black.

Pelican still had ice yesterday, but lots of it is starting to open. I think everything out in Wright county should open up this week, just in time for opener! Been a late one.

I went by Schmidt and Beebe yesterday. The shoreline on both is starting to pull away pretty good. The dirt road area of Beebe had two nice channels of open water where the culverts are. I think it’s going to go pretty quick.

Glad to hear it is opening up by the road on Beebe. Then the wind can start cutting it open and the rest should follow.

                                I suppose a report wouldn’t be complete without a fish pic. Metro crappies special, <img decoding=” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” /> .

Yeah, it would of worked for that! Yeah, maybe I should go harvest some ice for summer camping trips.

The dragging did about kill me. Getting too old for that crap! Normally late ice is great for dragging, not this year.

The snow will sure mess things up, not the best on weak ice. It will run right thru it when it melts. It’s not even like the fish are that much into a late ice deal either. Bring on the ice melt.
