1. Today they cut the predictable bust Mike Wallace. Anyone with a brain could see that this was gonna be a bust. We still dont have a QB that can throw the ball over 15 yards with any accuracy or consistency. Toiletwater blows!!
2. Vikings resign Andrew Sendungho. This guy is terrible. They should have spent that money on Terrance Newman and then went out and got Iloka from the Bengals and reunite him with Zimmer.
3. We could have signed Kelechie Oseleme (sp??) and cut Kalil and had an instant upgrade to the line. Could have done it for even money. Instead the Raiders got him. One of the best O-linemen in the game and he can play tackle or guard.
4. Resigned Audie Cole. Hope they can get Newman, Greenway, and Robison back as back ups and at a discount for just one more year.
I believe they have $30 million in cap room. I would spend that money on a safety (iloka) and a guard (Boone). Fixes 2 very large holes and gives you some draft flexibility.

They weren’t going to be able to sign Oseleme, he got the max from Raiders. Would have been nice to get him and keep Kalil then we would have a descent line. We have a lot of holes on the line and Kalil was not that bad last year. Everyone thinks about two seasons ago when he was horrible. We need a safety lined up with Harris and agree sandejo is horrible. Hits hard but that’s about it. If Vikes want to do anything next year they need to fix the o line.

I have to disagree with you on Kalil. When he did not miss his assignment he would get a penalty. He has been the worst link in the O line for quite some time. Horrible. IMHO

Yea I forget about all the penalties he did have. The entire line needs an upgrade.

I’d love to see them go after a safety, would be fun to see Iloka and Harrison Smith playing next to each other. That would be a huge upgrade.
The O-line is also an obvious need. They are keeping Kalil not because he played great but because its a tough position to fill and he’s likely the best option available that fits their budget. Unless Kalil has some sort of massive awakening this year he’ll probably be gone after this year. I suspect they’ll sign some oline help and then look for some additional lineman in the draft.

Just like the packers they will sign Matt forte then they’ll be unstoppable ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />
Forte would be nice, however, Jimmy Graham would be ideal. A big body as fast as he is that can stretch the middle and catch the ball like Graham would make the GB offense incredibly dangerous. I wouldn’t mind seeing Wallace come over for dirt cheap so he can finally play with a QB that can get the ball far enough down field for him to run at full speed. He hasn’t had that since Pittsburgh. One of Rodgers few flaws is he tends to overthrow the deep route. Oh that’s right, this is a Vikings season prediction. ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />
If it doesn't matter who wins or loses, then why do they keep score? Vince Lombardi
I don’t understand your reasoning on Sendejo. Why is his resign terrible? And you blame Spielman, but I am sure Zim made that call. Sendejo is not a started, but one hell of a backup, and he got NFL safety backup pay, and he knows the system. Great signing in my book. They still need a starter, but can work on that still in free agency or the draft.
All the teams that make big moves for big players, all struggle, because that new player does not know the playbook. Teams that make their players work, resign their good players, usually do well. Zim is looking at his former players in Cinci because they already know his system.
And that does not even account for cap fitting contracts.

Defense isn’t the problem….. it all starts with a QB in this league.
Only once every 20 years or so can a Defense win it all, Bears, Ravens and Broncos are your examples.
You need a top tier QB to be great and an avg. one to be OK….
Based on numbers the Defense was the reason they won last year and the Offense was horrible. The QB was the worst in the Div…. even with added weapons. Not sure that’s fixable, but most will blame the O-line…. but did the other QB’s in the Div. have better O-line play???? NOPE!

I don’t understand your opinion on Sendejo?!?!?
$16 million is backup money??? They could have went after Iloka a little harder (Spielman’s job). Zimmer has already coached him so he could stepped in day one and is only 26 years old. Our secondary could have been conceivably fixed for the next 4-5 years with a MINIMUM of 3 high quality starters.
He would have been a massive upgrade to SUNDUNGHO who cant cover a deep ball or tackle to save his life (pretty much the job of an NFL safety). He is a special teams player at best. Could have kept Terrance Newman and put him at safety as the backup as well as a backup CB.

Agreed Firecat, Sendejo basically got a one year $4 million deal, vs 3 years 18 mil for Iloka. The two deals are not comparable. Remember NFL deals are only as good as the guaranteed money. I’ve been very happy with Spielman, and am riding shotgun on Zimmer’s bandwagon. I’ll let them do what they do, and worry about my next fishing trip!
Agree with you 100% GPowers. Our QB SUCKS!! Last time I checked the most important requirement was to be able to throw the ball over 10 yards accurately. He cant do that with any consistency. But like idiots the Vikings will roll with him for the next decade and squander Zimmer’s talent and the defense that he built.
And also the detail of Sendejo’s contract is that most of the money is based on playing time, so if they do get a different starter, he does not make that full amount. To me it was a great signing, great backup player that will get paid if he has to get playing time for whatever reason.
Buck – you just have an anti-Viking attitude. Tell me their solution at QB, tell me what they should have done? Drafted Cam Newton, not possible, drafted Andrew Luck, not possible, signed Aaron Rodgers, not possible. What better option did the Vikings have at QB where their draft picks were? What better free agent QB should they have signed, under their current cap, that would be better? Show me your GM brilliants and answer those questions?
