Jim " title="" class="bbcode_smiley" />December 15, 2009 at 1:48 am #324946Walked out to our spot. I got one 17′ walleye and had something brake my line.( my fault I did ck from line from last winter). OK Had a couple more bites and missed them. I left about 6:30 Pm Man that was work. When I got to my truck I had a note on it saying.
(This side of the lake is ALL PRIVATE PROPERTY there is no lake access. The sheriff will be called if this is disregarded.) Now before you jump on my as$ Please see Gervais in the metro forum. This is on the NE corner of the lake years back we went tru it all the time. I have been trying to a winter access for 4 years now. The Ramsey county Commissioner does not return my calls. The parks and rec refuse to open the only place where we can drive on.
In one of my attempts with the park and rec I said there is a lot of rich people that live around that lake and they would like to have it private. See note on windshield. It is now Private because we can’t use it. The Dnr stock it with our Money for who, not us.Whats the next step in our government, Governor???

2008 LSF Walleye ChampionDecember 15, 2009 at 2:19 am #324947I dont think it has anything to do with the governor!! As long as you arent trespassing on anybodys property to get on the lake you are fine. No one can own the water of any lake even if they own all the land around it(my grandparents own the land around a 15acre lake but they dont own the lake) SO you might need a plane to land on the lake and fish Hope you can get something figured out

December 15, 2009 at 2:51 am #324948Are you accessing the lake from the park or just off of the road? If thru the park, tell them to pound sand. If from the road, make sure the ROW, an easement, or outlot extends to the lake from the edge of the road and then you are safe. Lots of people think they own everything around a lake but they don’t. As long as you can get on the lake without actually going on private property you are safe. Be prepared to still have to police called on you even if you are not trespassing since they think they own the land and water. The commissioners are too busy giving themselves 30% pay raises to deal with an issue as small as this so don’t expect help from them.

December 15, 2009 at 5:11 am #324950I think you are talking about Spoon lake. Yes that is the only boat access, There is no winter access on Gervais, or boat access.

call to make sure before getting onto the lake…at least this will help if any cop/sheriff shows up..
December 15, 2009 at 7:45 am #324953I drive out on gervais every year, live off of kohlman. I just drive around the rocks set up at the access to the park. Illegal or not once its solid I will be doing it again, no way in hell I am walkin across the lake to my spot. I still think it is bs they wont leave the park open in the winter

As long as the road right of way (ROW), some type of easement, or public land touches the water you are ok to walk off the road onto the lake. Otherwise it would be considered trespassing.

No public access and no parking along Hwy 7.
December 15, 2009 at 7:37 pm #324956Hey how can we get the word out that no lake is private then? I think we should at least have a pamplet to show theese stuck up people who think that they own everything that in fact that they don’t.

December 15, 2009 at 8:50 pm #324958The lake that I am talking about, we have to park on a side street and pull our equipment across a road that runs parallel to the lake and down a little slop about 30′ to the lake. I just came back from there and none of my friends are there I guess its over.
