Nice work! We’ve heard the south bays are good to go but like you said they’re a zoo so hoping to find ourselves a less busy spot on the West side of the lake. We may revert to the south bays if we don’t have good ice Thursday evening when checking. (spud bar in hand and floater suit).
The S wind over the next couple of days makes me a little nervous; however, I think Mille Lacs may have locked up last night? Will anybody be around the lake the next couple of days to give any reports of walkers or maybe test themselves?
Yeah our trip has been pushed back a week to the 19th…
Love that news.
Lol no, maybe a lifejacket for the next few weeks
Red Door posted a couple hours ago they have ice out as far as the eye can see.
Cold enough overnights with maybe an hour or two each day over freezing is still going to make ice. No snow or high winds in the forecast.
Looks like my group and I will have the floating suits and a spud bar out the weekend of Dec. 11.That would be great timing, thanks. And good luck!
We risked walking out, high risk high reward and we were lucky enough to pull 31 walleyes through the ice between 3 guys.
I can appreciate a more affordable option for housing but I started with the Hub/Pop-Up style house and then moved to a Clam flipover with thermal top and will never go back to a hub style.
The setup and take down of a flip over is so much faster and easier.
We’re going to be walking out into Garrison Bay tomorrow morning and hope to deliver reports of a lot of fish and not that we went through. Floating suits will be deployed.
Unfortunately cams don’t tell me a whole lot being that not many people fish during the week and doesn’t tell me how much ice is under the unknown depth of snow.
I think that’s plenty of ice for me and my group going out on the west side Friday morning following the cold snap. We’re going out by foot regardless.
How much snow has fallen up there?
What are the chances that people will be walking out on the main lake this weekend?
The chances of people walking is probably pretty good so that’s a bad question. A better question would be are those people insane or are they going out safely?
This is excellent, thank you.
Not sure I trust anybody who says there is 20″ on Mille Lacs right now….seems bizarre if there are still pockets of open water.
We’ll be walking out from the west side early Saturday morning with a spud bar in hand…
