Do you think ESPN will put cardboard cutouts of people in the stands to make the weigh in seating look full?

Yes, take off from Eddy’s, yes weigh-in at the casino, 30 boats and the promoters have hired a bunch of soccer fans to fill the stands. The crowd will cheer so loudly they’ll hear them all the way across in Malmo.

Prefishing is (technically) over already – the lake is off limits for, I believe, a month before the tourney. Of course there are rumors about some guys having other people fish and report for them, but who knows.

This is going to be great for the community…going to bring a lot of people and a lot of money to the area, and hopefully show the resort owners that they have a HUGE market that they can tap to keep their cash registers ringing.

Just curious on the amount of people you think will attend? I assume the weigh in will get the most amount, but I guess it will be mostly locals?

People go watch other people bowl, play golf and tennis why wouldn’t a few come watch people weigh in some fish??

Can’t speak for others, but chasing only bass, this was a huge announcement for me. Pretty stoked to get the chance to see these guys actually fish in person. Been saying for a few years now that they needed to bring a tournament of this caliber to Mille Lacs.

Just wondering where you guys got the number 30 for boats? Last I had read the tournament schedule it mentioned 50 anglers.

For the promoters sake they better hope it’s not mostly locals otherwise attendance could be really small…. will be interesting to see how many attend thinking it won’t be even close to the 15000 to 30000 they get down south. Those boys down south that talk with a twang treat them boys like rock stars. There should be some impressive weights brought in that’s for sure….unless we get one of those 30mph fall winds and the have to fish in the harbor.
Will be interesting to see if some of those ranger guys actually switch to a deeper boat if there is some major wind in the forcast….

I’d figure the Mille Lacs fish counter, politician, bureaucrat, biologist, hot tips, hot bites, netting expert, fishing pro, launch captain, grand pubah of the Dead Sea would know such things.

Nope. Since it’s a casino sponsored event, I really didn’t know. I DO know when I’m being disrespected, though.

Looking forward to seeing you in person, JJ.

If I buy the wings can I go too? Or maybe 1st round?

Good question, pretty sure I did see 30 boats…but I think there’s more than one angler per boat?? The 50 anglers I did see too, just don’t remember the details. I’ll look it up later while the others keep sparring. Hopefully I’ll find more specific information before this thread gets locked.

It’s the Angler of the Year tournament for the top 50 in the Bassmaster series. They will fish alone, but have a boat marshall with them. The weigh-in starts at 3:45 all 4 days at the Casino. $1,000,000 in money and prizes.

Maybe it’s just me, but I have not heard much of anything about the Bassmaster AOY Event. Not sure why they aren’t promoting the heck out of it. Although I guess I’m not too surprised considering I’ve always gotten the feeling from those around the lake that they’re a one tract mind (walleyes), well maybe two tract (netting).
