And there wasn’t a charge for parking or attending the weigh-ins or Saturday events, was there? So you didn’t have to give a dime to the casino if you didn’t want to, yet still take in all of the excitement. I believe that without having the casino there, the event would not have happened simply due to no other place large enough to hold the number of spectators.

The story in the Trib said there were hundreds at the Sunday weigh-in. There are much larger events held at privately owned resorts each winter. With preparation other venues could accommodate this event.

I was at the weigh-in. There is no other place anywhere in the area that could accomodate the crowd, plus the stage, plus all the booths, plus all the parking, plus everything else. Not even close.

What old star you mean the perch extravaganza or the ducks unlimited ice fishing tourney where you can park on the ice. I have not been to all the resorts but the ones that I have there is no question, they would not have been able to have a big enough area for what they had set up.

This event was Just awesome! Everyone involved did an excellent job.

I watched the live coverage all three days and it was fun to see all the fish being caught and how surprised everyone was by how great the fishing was. They even had a segment with Gene Miller out muskie fishing. They caught a 52″ muskie on live tv!

I attended the bass university and expo on saturday and learned quite a bit at the seminars. It was nice that the pros were out and about and so willing to talk, take pictures, autographs, etc.

I went to the take off on Sunday. Not the biggest crowd that I expected but was still fun to watch.

Overall I think this was great for the lake and the communities around it. It was great to hear the pros say everyday that it is a special place, the greatest smallmouth fishing in the world, and to take care of it.

Not to break up the fight about where the event should be held…but why was the winner paid so litte? Was the tourney a points thing only with out a big purse? The guy on the Mississippi won 100gs Seth won twelve I’m assuming they were only paid for there place in the aoy standings (correct me if I’m wrong)… that being said I’m sure it was good publicity for the kid who won but he could have got last and got paid the same…why?

                Awaiting the next bite...
