F+L+P=Success
L stands for location. Docks make for excellent cover, therefore they often hold big fish. Sometimes on some lakes dock fishing is the best pattern one can be fishing for bass.
I am really curious to see what kind of turn out this event will have. Just last week there was a full field Elite Tournament down at LaCrosse. I know last year I paid very little attention to the AOY Championship.
I know this has nothing to due with this topic but here goes.I never understood why the indians don’t have alcohol in the casino.Isn’t the object to “make”as much money as possible.I would think you would want tipsy folks throwing their hard earned money away for “pleasure”.Looks like the tourney boats get a windy start today. They will be fishing docks this morning!c63

Look at the huge crowds for the opening day! I think i saw a guy at the perch contest one year big enough to eat that many people…
I could post other pics that showed hundreds of people, but I don’t see the point in feeding trolls.
Really??? I have been following the tourney and would have liked it to be a huge success for the lake. But it isn’t, and have seen no such pics…. ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />

You might want to join some social media feeds. I don’t really follow BASS (nor do my friends), but have quite a few friends visiting the lake to check it out. Some are either attending the weigh-in, or on the lake watching the pro’s do their thing.
Tomorrow should be busy, as the events are all promotional, and not fishing. i would expect with the nice weather, there will be a fairly good turn out.
I’d also recommend listening to the live stream of the weigh-in. The one theme that almost every angler recites:
“This is a special place, and all the species need protection. The number of huge smallmouth, eyes, pike, and muskies is untouchable”
Additionally, many are commenting on being surprised by the crowd size.
There were at least a couple of thousand people who were there on Saturday for the Expo, and a really nice crowd on Sunday as well. Thursday’s bad weather really held the turnout down (plus it was a Thursday), but all in all it was a great turnout and a great event.
It was really fun watching Minnesota’s own Seth Feider lock down the title…this will be a big boost for his career. It was also great hearing all the anglers encourage people (and the DNR) to really understand what a rare fishery we have in Mille Lacs, and that we need to protect it.
I’m sure B.A.S.S. will be back on Mille Lacs in the not too distant future. I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see ML come in as the #1 lake in the country in B.A.S.S. magazine’s annual list after the exposure it got this week, and the records that were set for most sacks of 20+ lbs in an event.
This was a winner all the way around for everyone involved. It was great to see a ton of really healthy walleyes caught as well. If we can keep harvest down for another year, and have the DNR put together sensible, sustainable bag limits, ML will continue to be a great fishery for all types of species.

Anyone who fished Mille Lacs knows it is one of the best lakes in the country. I hope that this tournament brings bass anglers from other states to keep the resorts going that need help. The casino does not need help, and is not dependent on the fishery. When BASS comes back I hope they choose a different resort. Seth winning was the best thing that could have happened during this tourney. The more publicity for the lake the better!
The casino is the only practical venue for the event, period. I could hardly find a parking spot on Saturday…even the overflow parking lots were full. Zero chance any of the resorts could hold the event and do it justice.
I was very happy to see some people from Twin Pines out there, listening and learning and hopefully becoming less anti-bass in how they do business.
