Absolutely, netting issues aside. Early ice-outs tend to yield poor hatch rates. The spawn begins sooner with early ice out as water temps have risen. The earlier ice out increases the likelihood of temperature drops that cool water temps enough to delay eggs hatching. Some don’t end up hatching at all and they’re also exposed longer making them more susceptible to predation.
